Women are underrepresented in the outdoor industry. Six in 10 women can’t come up with a single outdoor female role model and only one in five women and girls believe they represent a typical angler. To combat this lack of representation, the Making Waves initiative for Take Me Fishing empowered women to make their voices heard by the outdoor industry.

The #MakingWaves initiative provided resources to help women and their families get their fish on.

Exponent used an insight — moms are the parents most likely to take kids fishing for the first time — to put a fresh spin on the yearly list of top places to fish and boat in each state. A nationwide survey of moms informed Top Mom-Approved Places to Fish and Boat.

Celebrity Latina mom and avid angler Alexa PenaVega helped kick off a nationwide vote to rank the Top 10 Mom-Approved Places to Fish and Boat in the nation. Local news outlets in each state passionately rallied their communities to cast their votes, aided by tailored social content and PR toolkits.
